quite the weekend, cool, rainy. golfed both days, 78 and 77. Hitting the ball really well. pd day tomorrow, hopefully i won't be too bored but am not holding out much hope. golfing season coming to a close and curling season in full swing, no chance for a team this year so my curling career might be over, it was a good run while it lasted.

been checking out trips to the south over winter breaks, should do it this year, might be fun.

tuesday

school almost done, got new job,looking forward tothe summer and hitting lots of golf balls. got a new driver and it works great.

a day

long time no blog, had an interview for my job and they gave it to me, now the fun begins. will have to hire staff and interviews and all that good stuff. hopefully it won't keep me too busy to golf. we have a yoga teacher in town and i am going twice a week so far. golfed last night, hit the ball well but putter failed me.

our course is coming along, all areas seeed and now we water, unfortuately our pump is giving us a little grief.

has been cloudy all evening but no rain. we need it because the forecast is for hot sunny weather for the next week.

good day bad day

took the kids to a farm safety day in another colony, it was a long bus ride there and back but the trip was worthwhile and hopefully some good will come out of it, safety wise.

bad news they informed that i was losing my job, ah the politics of teaching. oh well, what comes comes, too bad they left to late to apply for any other jobs. might be pumping gas next september.

i have to be more active in posting, i have been lax.

morning golf was good today, lots of good shots - no double bogeys, one birdie. yesterday was good also. I just have to keep it going on wednesday nights men's league.

having trouble with our greenskeeper and his ablility to keep on track. he spent 2.5 days building a dock and we still don't have our watering system up and running, good thing it has rained a little or we would be in big trouble. He also took today off and it is supposed to be raining tomorrow and tuesday so i am sure he will take those days off too. very frustrating.

good be a busy week coming up, we have babysitting on wednesday and then off to farm safety day on thursday, could be a tiring week.

sunday

let me tell you about my sunday.  got up way too early and couldn't get back to sleep so got up and headed to the golf course.  warmed up with a few balls and played great, lots of super shots and a few great laughs.

had lunch on the deck, burger and salad and headed home, damn near fell asleep on the highway but made it safely changed and headed to our muddy course to make sure the help was on track.

made it home and helped the wife move two trees and set her up to work on the flower beds.

son in law and grandson showed up so we headed back to muddy course to change flat tire on the golf cart ( an old 3 wheel harley ) and of course it was the front tire.  son in law handled it great and grandson and i checked out the equipment.  there was a skidsteer in the parking lot so the grandson had to check it out, i managed to slip and bang myself up real good on the scraper blade, blood and bruises.  we hopped on the gaiter and ran through the mud.

made it home and helped the wife plant and clean up, ordered pizza and cleaned up my cuts and bruises.

need to get away and relax!

thursday

golf course finally emerged from the flood waters, now we wait for mother nature to dry it out.

golfed last night in winkler, men's night, first round and i was terrible, couldn't chip to save a par. what a disapointment, hit the ball well tee to around the green, but just couldn't get it close.  have to wait til saturday for redemption.

had a day off today, Ascension day, was nice to get a day off. worked at golf course waited for greenskeeper to show up, he finally arrived after nine am, banker's hourse.  took the wife to town and had a huge salad at perkins restaurant, i mean huge.  tough to diet when they give you that much food.

tuesday

meetings first thing this am,  what a poor decision, meetings were a tad bit boring, maybe it was me and i couldn't get into them, but should have stayed at home.

have to change things at work, too much a routine, need to break the pattern.

golf course is coming along, water is disappearing but land is still soft and wet.  hoping for warmer weather to dry things up.

found out i get a day off thursday, and unexpected day off. Ascension day and we get time off for it. joys.

sunday

golfed this am, started with a serious case of the hooks and played a terrible front nine, but recovered and played super the back nine. came home and went to our course and wielded a fire hose washing greens with poopy water to get the muck and sand off.

i wonder about people sometimes, yesterday a fella said he would help and show up but today there i was, all by myself, why says things when you know you can't deliver, just shup up and not make promises you can't keep. there goes rant for the day.

tomorrow doesn't look too good, windy cool, will golf in the am and work on the course in afternoon, will let you know how it works out.

saturday

wow, 6 days since my last post. how time flies.  played 18 holes of golf this am, some great shots, great putts, had fun.

our golf course is starting to emerge from the water, lower holes still need to be pumped out and that is not being done, hopefully soon.

took the wife shopping and played with the grandson in the evening, a long day.

will try to be more regular in the future.

wonderful day, golfed 33 holes today, first round was ok, but second 15 were great. warm day, lots of great shots, didn't make any putts though, the greens had been aerated and were a little bumpy!

weather was wonderful too, very little wind, not too much sun, got warm enough to take the jacket off a couple of times.

went home and went out to daughter's for hot dogs and burgers and play with the grandchildren. it was a great mother's day for a father.

saturday

nice day, started out with snow flurries and ended up with sun shine but not too warm, plus8. yoga in the morning then took the wife to town for shopping, what a treat.

water is going down slowly but we should be able to get on the golf course next week and begin the reclamation project.  lots of differing opinions on what we will find and how long it will take to get it back in shape, i think we will have some silt down low on holes 3 and 7 but the rest should be fine.  hope to hit a few balls in winkler tomorrow am, weather is supposed to be better, we will see.

first golf game of the year. great front nine, got a birdie, was 2 over, all over the back nine, some pars, some bogies. very satisfying. took a long time to get to winkler, round and about, the water is going down but slowly.

first sunny day of the year, was raking out in the front in shorts this pm.

signed up for men's night golf wednesday evening, not really my cup of tea. i don't enjoy 3 hours to play 9 holes of golf. we spent 3 hours this morning and played 18. we were the first group out and didn't rush but got done in good time.

wednesday

tough day at the office. started with a meeting am and some outrageous demands were made of me that are unattainable, unrealistic and just plain stupid. managed to not bring the funk into the work place and had a good afternoon on the ball field playing baseball. on the way home it began to rain and is now raining hard and us in a flood situation.

yesterday am was a bummer too, started in the garage when i started the honda and tried to back up, damm thing wouldn't go into reverse or for that matter any gear. jumped into the van and made it into work, phoned the dealership and they said pry up a small tab and jab a key into the hole. i came back home and low and behold it works. now i have to find a way to get it to a shop and pay the big bucks to get it fixed.

sunday, sunday, went to town with wife shopping. it was a dull dreary day with not much happening so i thought what the hell, might as well be bored in town as bored here in M.

hit all the highlights, mall, wall mart, bookstore, grocery store.

supper with the granduns, home to tv. a boring life indeed, at least on sundays.

saturday

good day today, got up met the grandson, got him off to his yoga class, came home and rested up for my class at 11:30, after that i went into to the city, found a golf range and hit a large bucket of balls. Looks like i haven't lost the touch, hit them well.

watched some curling, my old team was playing, they lost, they needed me.

should tell you about yesterday, was playing ball with the kids and they asked me to bat. one of the grade 11's was pitching and i hit his first pitch out of the park, i don't know who was more surprised, the kids or me. followed that up with a switch hit double, another home run and a walk. old guys still have the touch it seems.

now if the damn water would recede and i could get golfing.

thursday

another day, work, pick up grandkids, feed them, and then for the first time in long time, i fell asleep in the chair. missed walking the dog, WOW!

dull day, water still up, not dissipating too fast.friday tomorrow, can't wait. no big plans but i will find something to do.

wednesday

nice day for a meeting, good thing the course was closed so the temptation was less.

grandson was quite a character after day care, watched some movies ate some supper and mom and dad took him home. walked the dog on the dike tonite, the water seems to be receding slowly but surely.

work tomorrow but i'm not looking forward to it, seems strange, it was a lot more fun before they made me the boss.

a little cat seems to like sitting on my shoulder these days, she never came near me for the first 6 years of her life, interesting, weird but interesting.

tuesday

another day another dollar, got home, fixed my bedroom window crank, raked the front lawn, took the xmas lights down, walked the dog ate supper, watched some tv, did some yoga, sent some pictures of the flood to friends. need some other hobbies to keep me busy.

off to meetings tomorrow, they are held at a great golf course, i think it is a form of torture, making us meet at a course and not letting us to use it.

oh well, tough life and all that crap.

monday

lazy in my blogging but hve been busy looking after grandchildren after school and watching flood waters rise. terrible weekend weather wise, but nicer today, would be at the golf course if it wasn't under 20 feet of water.

work sucks, but gives me someplace to go and something to do. need to find some other form of entertaining myself.

saturday

well we are completely surrounded by water, we can only leave via the east road. river is supposed to crest in the next day or two so hopefully we can make it til the river goes done. golf course is completely covered by water so a bit cleanup is in order.

cleaned the interior of the honda yesterday, it needed it. off to yoga tomorrow am, check out the big city, maybe order a few tires for the honda, maybe bring the clubs along and hit a few balls at the indoor range.

supposed to be a few showers tomorrow.

so far it has been a boring long weekend.

wednesday, got all the equipment moved from the golf course to higher ground, water is comingup quickly. road north is closed so i have to travel to work a little differently.

babysat the grandkids after school, a good time was had by all.

curling is over, too much water and snow for golf, will have to survive with yoga.

easter weekend us upon us, time off again.

saturday

cool this morning, ice on the puddles, got up and moved equipment from the maintenance shed to the clubhouse on the hill. had to work quickly before the ground unfroze and got slippery, smooth turf tires and mud do not get along. managed to get everything moved except for the greens mower, will do that tomorrow before yoga class. river is rising fast and crest is a week away. it is getting close to the top of our dike and is forecast to rise over it, too bad, the course was going to be nice.

watching curling right now, martin against japan, ice is a little quirky, not an exciting game because of the ice conditions.

won the last game of the season and the bonspiel. won some cash, i played really well. rocks off the ice, plant is turned off, hopefully the golf course doesn't flood, bring on the summer.

another cool morning, waiting for flood waters to come from north dakota, at least this cold is keeping the waters low here for now.

good day yesterday, started the day off with a vigorous yoga class in the city, me and 4 gorgeous young girls. off to the curling rink we played twice,won both and are playing today in the finals and are sure of making money.

got visited by the youngest grandson (3 years old) at the rink yesterday, he was great. grand daughter was at emergency yesterday, has a fever but she is a little toughie, has to be with an older brother.

off to take dog to ranch to play with her uncles.

snow day

curled last night, two games, we lost the finals of the club championship, very sad. curled well, but we were playing short handed, lead and second were no shows so we picked up a spare. we won the first game but ran out of gas in the second. final spiel of the season runs this weekend, not sure if i am curling or not. anyways, after the game i went out to the honda and it was covered with a sheet of ice, i tried for 5 minutes to chip a small hole to look through and made it home by feel.

this morning woke up to wind, snow and of course the ice already down on the road from last night. the school board was nice enough to cancel school so i headed out the the daughters to spend the am playing with the grandchildren.

everyone is worried about the upcoming flood, preparations are being made, my job is to make sure the equipment at the golf course doesn't get washed away. good thing i have next week to work on it.

curling

just spent the last two days helping the boys make ice here in morris for the dekalb superspiel. lots of work, lots of fun. team china is here prepping for the world's. they are struggling against our local talent. getting warm out, plus 5,waiting for the rain coming and everyone is talking about our flood that is due to arrive in 2 weeks. up at 6 this am, tomorrow we start at 7, should get some shut eye.

another day another dollar, boring meetings all day. walked the dog, getting wet out there and a little muddy. cooked burgers on the bbq and then off to curling. missed a lot of shots tonite, played better as the game went along but hitting was weak, usually my best feature.

at least the weather was nice, plus 2 or 3, a little windy but sunny.

interesting meeting, alot of complaining about not enough funds for elite athletes to attend events, not much sympathy from me, my taxes will be going up to pay for it. make the little buggers pay there own way.

home

work, walk the dog, now sitting. beautiful day, sunny, plus 5, snow melting, water running. principal's meeting tomorrow, will see how that goes. waiting til 7pm to listen to resby radio show about curling. might go and throw a few rocks tonite.
